This book, included in the"Schools, currents, economists” collection aims to present some key aspects of contemporary economic thinking appeared in German-speaking space, towards the end of the Second World War until the last decade of the twentieth century, in the context of universal economic thinking. German contemporary economic thinking covers all trends, schools and economists who have carried out work, in whole or in part, in Germany, East Germany, Austria and German-speaking part of Switzerland.
Even if, compared to the previous period, the number of founders of schools and current decreased, economic thinking German language continued to represent a significant share of universal economic thinking. Among economists presented on this work, we meet emblematic figures of contemporary economic science, such as Friedrich August von Hayek and Richard Selten, both Nobel Prize winners for economics, Walter Eucken - founder of ordoliberalism, Wilhelm Röpke, Gottfried von Haberler, Oskar Morgenstern, Erich Preiser, Jurgen Kuczynski, Herbert Giersch, Andre Gunder Frank and many others.
Also, several pages are dedicated to the perception of JM Keynes's work in German economic thinking in the 1930s and its echoes in the literature of the time, and features the exponents of Marxist-Leninism in the German Democratic Republic, Federal Republic of Germany and Austria.
