In democratic societies the organizations of the nongovernmental-nonprofit sector address community’s needs that are not fully covered by public or private, profit oriented entities and offer citizens the opportunity to participate to public life.
Starting with 1989 nongovernmental-nonprofit organizations begun to operate in Romania, their evolution being achieved in a complex and challenging context. The sector development is strongly influenced by economic and social changes within the Romanian society or at European level.
