This paper, prepared by Mrs. Teodora Alexandra Pãlãrie, PhD in Biology/Ecology and by Costel Negrei, PhD in Economics, is an approach falling within the general issue of water resources conservation, providing the methodology and a theoretical and practical framework in order to promote the adaptive management of aquatic ecosystems.
In terms of methodology and theoretical work, this research highlights the potential for improvement and increased credibility of the economic evaluation method based on the hypothetical market - selection modeling technique. An innovation is represented by the use of the soft measuring the control agents’ intensity and the means of exerting pressure on aquatic ecosystems, integrating eleven criteria to assess the potential risk, the spatial and temporal variability of the system and the level of awareness among the general public.
For a practical application, the paper assesses the risks of polluting the Braila Swamps, a long-term research area, using the algorithm explained in terms of methodology and theoretical framework.
