The paper approaches a variety of processes from the domain of project management and presents multiple instruments and techniques applicable in project management field, especially from business perspective.
The book is structured in seven chapters. In the first chapter, Introduction in project management for business, there are several key concepts, for starting to understand the project mangement universe, such as: project, project management, project manger, project stakeholders, operations and project management, relationships among projects, programs and portfolios, project life cycle, predicitive and adaptive models for project management, main project management process groups, and probability distributions useful for project management. In the second chapter, Project scope management, all the main processes related to the scope of a project are presented, the process of gathering project requirements is detailed, project requirements tracability is approached, or the process of creating a tree structure out of the scope of a project. In chapter 3, Project time management, and in chapter 4, Project cost management, all the main processes related to time and cost aspects of a project are presented, and processes like the following ones are detailed: establishing project activities dependencies, estimating project activities durations and costs, elaborating a project schedule, determining a project budget, controlling costs and schedule of a project. In chapter 5, Project quality managment, several modern aproaches related to project quality management are presented, as well as the main processes related to project quality management, and several instruments and techniques used for project quality management. In the next chapter, Project risk management, all main processes related to project risk management are briefly described, and processes like the following are detailed: project risks identification, qualitative and quantitative project risks analysis, planning risk responses, interactions between project risks. In chapter 7, Other project management processes for business, the remaining of the main project management processes are presented, with their instruments and techniques applicable: project human resources management, project communication management, project stakeholders management, project acquisitions management, and project intergration management.
